Phibsboro is one of the longest established clubs in Dublin and the largest club on the northside, if not the entire city. The club was established in 1954, and further information on the history of the club is available here. We cater for players from Beginner up to 2300+. We have 3 former Irish champions amongst our membership and always welcome new faces.

We meet Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 onwards, in An Oige, 61 Mountjoy Street Dublin 7.

There is a car park at the rear of the building which you have to get a key from reception to open – we advise that cyclists lock their bikes in here for security reasons.

Upon entering the club visitors should sign in at reception where they will be given an access card.

The chess club runs the Club Championships in the months following the end of the Leinster Leagues, also a summer competition is held, and on the last club night before christmas the annual Blitz tournament is held.

The Club is a member of the Leinster Chess Union, members who wish to play in leagues and competitions are registered and become members of the Irish Chess Union and they will be rated.

For details on contacting the club and/or becoming a member contact club secretary.
