The fixtures for matches in our group in the Branagan Cup are
After a tough season sadly our Armstrong Cup side was relegated. Going into the last round versus Bray we needed “snookers”. A loss 5-3 was no disgrace considering how highly rated they were, wins for Ravshan and Conor, as well as draws from Art and Marc was an honourable performance.
Well done to our Heidenfeld Trophy side who rallied in the last few rounds winning and picking up points, and despite a loss in the Last round their status was preserved. So next year we should have two Heidenfeld sides.
The Armstrong had a couple of bad results recently, losing 7-1 to Dublin, (Draws for art and John) and 7-1 to Gonzaga (Draws for Ravshan and super sub Michael), both very strong sides. We also had a close game against Dun Laoghaire drawing 4-4 unfortunately defaulting on board 8 meant we lost 4-3. We need good results in our final three games.
Heidenfeld had a tough match against a strong Curragh side losing 6.5-1.5 (draws for Tom Tony and John, and an close game against Elm Mount (who were higher rated on every board) losing 4.5-3.5 (excellent wins for Michael and John).
Our BEA Cup side had a narrow win 3-2 v Drogheda, and a lose 3.5-1.5 against a much higher rated Dublin University (Trinity) side.
Our O’Sullivan Cup side had tough matches whitewashed v St. Benildus and a narrow loss to Malahide
Our Armstrong Cup away match against Gonzaga is being switched from Saturday 11th to Monday 13th in our premises. This is due to Gonzaga playing in an international league. A very tough match is anticipated.
A good start to the season for our Division 5 – BEA cup side with wins against the Curragh, and against Dublin Chess Club.
Also solid start for our Division 7 – O’Sullivan Cup (Group A) side with a Draw v Naomh Barróg.
Tough day at the office for both Armstrong Cup and Heidenfeld Trophy teams.
Armstrong lost 6.5 -1.5 to a very strong trinity side, with an excellent win for Kevin, special thanks to the four substitutes who lined out, much appreciated lads.
The Heidenfeld side lost 5.5-2.5 to Drogheda, with a win for Micheal last week.
Still early in the season and onwards and upwards!
New season of the Leinster Leagues starts soon.
New members are also very welcome.
After the success of last months summer blitz, we are going to have another tonight. So pop down early and give your name to Mick
Our Armstrong Cup side won v St. Benildus A, 5-3, ensuring our place in next seasons league. Actually the performance enabled the team to creep up to 8th in the league. Draws for Dario and Dave and wins for Lucasz, Mohamad, John and Conor.
Our Heidenfeld Trophy side had a bad day at the office, two draws for Art and Michael made the result 7-1. The Heidenfeld side league position was secured by results in earlier rounds.
Our BEA Cup side put in another solid performance and preserved league status after a tight relegation battle.
