Our Heidenfeld trophy side had an excellent narrow away win (4.5 – 3.5) against a highly rated Blanchardstown side. Wins for Conor, Colm, Art and Mick Germaine, and a draw for Dave. Dario and Michael were very unlucky in their games, and on board one, John got some revenge against Kevin, for last years win.
Onwards and upwards. Our next game is a North Dublin derby versus Elm Mount.
Heidenfeld side drew 4 – 4 with Rathmines B, wins for Art, Mick and Colm, and draws for Conor and Tom. Next match away to Blanchardstown on the 29th of January.

A tough night at the office for the Heidenfeld team – losing 6-2 to Lucan, we were unlucky in a few games, especially Dave.

A Narrow Loss to Dun Laoghaire 4.5 – 3.5, draws for Dario, Conor, Marc, Art and Dave, and a win for John.
We had a tough match losing to Gonzaga 6-2, draws for Art and Tony, and a win for John. Dario and Mick were unlucky in their games which went down to the wire on the night.
The Leinster Chess Union (LCU) is pleased to announce that this year’s Mick Germaine Cup competition for teams of juniors/novices will take place on:
Sunday 10th December 2017 in the Ierne Sports and Social Club (Main Hall), Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 (home of the Elm Mount Chess Club).
Teams should be comprised of 4 players who are under 16 years of age on 1st December 2017. Players with an ICU rating of 900 or less or who are unrated are eligible to compete in the tournament. (ICU September 2016 rating list applies).
It will be a swiss tournament with 6 rounds of matches with a break for lunch in accordance with the above timetable. Teams from both schools and chess clubs can enter the tournament.
The results of the tournament will be based on match points. However, as the top scoring individual players on each team also win prizes, team captains will be asked to fill in the attached scorecard during the tournament for their teams. This will facilitate the holding of the prize giving ceremony immediately on conclusion of the final round at 4pm at the latest.
Time Control and Playing Equipment.
The time control is 15 minutes per player per game and all equipment will be provided by the LCU. Players will have to use clocks but are not obliged to record their moves.
Entry fee is 20 euro per team, which can be paid on 10th December 2017 at registration.

If you are unsure of the composition of your team in advance, you can submit an entry via email and name the players at registration. Please note that substitutes can be used during the tournament.

We started the season with an away match to Balinasloe and home match against Bray.
In the first game of the season away to Ballinasloe (in Athlone) our Heidenfeld side narrowly won 4.5 to 3.5. Excellent wins for David, Tony, Tom and Mick, and a draw by Noel.

In our second outing of the season at home v Bray, we drew 4 – 4, with excellent victories, for Marc and Tony, and draws for Dave, Conor, Colm and Art.
